Improvements at the Northampton Road market announced by Harborough District Council last week include reopening the toilets and making them accessible from inside the building.
They plan to improve lighting, entrances and signage, remove some of the plinths on which the stalls sit and create a new food hall at the centre of the market offering a range of cuisines.
Seven-day opening is also planned. Work is set to begin in January.
