National Association of British Market Authorities
As the country’s leading markets organisation NABMA, The National Association of British Market Authorities, has successfully promoted the interests of its local members for over 80 years. Membership benefits include professional advice, a lively forum for discussion and a key role in shaping the future of markets. Membership is open to any local or public authority having control of retail, wholesale, livestock markets, public abattoirs and pleasure fairs.
National Market Traders’ Federation
The National Market Traders’ Federation was founded in 1899 by a group of South Yorkshire market traders who felt there was a need for an organisation to represent their collective interests. Since then the NMTF has grown by leaps and bounds.
The NMTF works hard on behalf of its members. It lobbies government through the increasingly influential All Party Parliamentary Markets Group, and holds regular talks with other organisations involved in the industry.
Open Air Market Network
This website should help you better understand the functions, importance, and variety of street markets and merchants as well as the larger social context in which they are found. This knowledge should be useful to merchants, shoppers, travelers, policy makers and academics of all types, law, business, social science, consumer researchers, historians and anyone else with an interest in this age-old form of trade.

Groupe Geraud is the largest operator of local authority markets in Europe operating more than 1300 market days each week and is certainly the largest French private operator of retail markets, produce markets, cattle markets and fairs of all kinds. It has more than three hundred contracts (around 600 markets) with towns and cities of all sizes, including some, such as Bordeaux, which are very large.
Markets deliver vitality and variety all too often absent from today’s multiple-dominated High Streets. Since 1997 Quarterbridge has been helping the market industry deliver fresh, quality goods with personal service and realistic prices.
We find innovative ways to increase footfall to markets, help drive increased revenue and plan long term, sustainable strategies for success.
