A group of 12 determined traders have been given the go-ahead to set up stalls in Market Square on Fridays.
Stafford MP Jeremy Lefroy is backing the plans and he is also calling for a food and drink festival to be held – similar to the existing event in Stone.
Some of the traders would be giving up pitches on other markets around the area but say it would be worth it as it would bring new trade to Stafford.
They would aim to hold the market every Friday, although it would have to be postponed if other borough council events were taking place in the square, or possibly run alongside. The town’s indoor market would continue to operate.
