RUTLAND and Melton MP Alan Duncan is backing Love Your Local Market fortnight which begins on Saturday.
Mr Duncan has signed up to the Charter for Town Centres, a new Parliamentary campaign which commits MPs to working proactively with all local partners to promote town centres as commercial and community hubs.
Visiting Melton farmers’ market on Friday he said initiatives such as the setting up of Business Improvement District companies and the Portas Review were helping to put the high street at the heart of the political debate.
