One local market is finding new ways to offer customers a way to save by putting together a Market Discount Booklet.
Edinburgh Markets is a social enterprise that provides a platform for local businesses and new start-ups to trade. By working with regular traders at its Saturday Market outside John Lewis’, Leith Street, they put together special offers, freebies and discounts to reward regular customers and increase sales.
Market Operator, Vicky MacDonald, said “This is a great example of local businesses working together to boost trade for each other and to encourage more people to shop regularly at their local market.”
The booklet also gives a brief overview of some of the people behind the products at the market, from Michelle, the 18 year-old who gives up her weekends to carry on the family meat business, Caledonian Foods, to Alex, a volunteer for the Breadshare Community Supported Organic Bakery.
The pocket-sized booklet will be available at the market from Saturday 30th March. Customers can collect their booklet from any of the traders’ stalls.
