A PUBLIC consultation has been launched to find a new home for Walsall Market.
Council chiefs say they want to ensure the historic market, which dates back to 1219, is “fit for the 21st century”, and have been looking for a permanent base for the historic 65-stall market since 2008.
The new market could include stalls at several locations across the town centre, with planners drawing up 12 potential sites of interest.
Local people are now being urged to comment on the options, with the authority planning to submit a planning application later this year.
