A supermarket has finally been given retrospective planning permission for extending its floorspace – after it agreed to allow farmers’ markets on its land.
Morrisons carried out the changes without planning permission in 2012, giving over the former entrance area to flower sales in a move which increased the sales area by 2,885 sq ft, but councillors were concerned about the impact on other shops in the village.
Today South Cambridgeshire District Council’s planning committee approved the application, on condition that trial farmers’ markets could be help on the market square it owns on the corner of Broad Street and High Street.
