A NEW future lies ahead for Dunstable market, with its management poised to change hands soon.
From June 1, the market will be run by Dunstable Town Council.
This week, the council has set out its stall over its plans to boost the market, which runs on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
In a statement, the council team said: “Dunstable Town Council will ensure that all three market days continue, and is keen to improve the existing market and put the heart back into our town.”
The council pledged immediate investment in new stalls.
Councillor Jeannette Freeman, chairman of the community services committee, said: “The town council believes that a vibrant market is part of a thriving town centre and that the two work side by side.
“We are committed to the regeneration of Dunstable town centre and therefore will be investing heavily to ensure that the market once again becomes the heart of our town.”
