Sep 30, 2012 Peter Rabbit Council News Comments Off on Council scheme helps young trader start their own business
Castleford Market has welcomed its newest indoor trader – thanks to Wakefield Council’s business start-up scheme.
Juanita Austin, 20, was on Jobseeker’s Allowance and struggling to find work when she heard about the scheme, which offers new market traders and existing traders trying a new market a generous discount package to help them get up and running.
The scheme is being piloted at Castleford and South Elmsall markets so Juanita, who lives at South Kirkby, decided to try her hand at Castleford Market. Her mum Bev used to trade in children’s wear so she decided to follow in her footsteps. After meetings and advice from the Council’s business advisors she set up her business `Just Your Style`.
Juantia said: “I’m selling clothes and accessories for babies and children up to 12 years old. There were no jobs going so when I heard about this scheme I thought I would give it a try. It’s really good and the rent free period is helping me to get started.
