THE delay-ridden refurbishment of Chester Bus Exchange has been dubbed an “appalling shambles” that has left market traders struggling to survive.
Work on replacing the old brick bus stands with new shelters began on February 11 and was supposed to be completed within eight weeks.
But the work fell behind schedule and has now stopped altogether because the remaining six shelters are not ready.
Cllr Samantha Dixon, who represents the city centre, said the whole project had been a “fiasco” from the very beginning.
She said: “I am incensed about the complete lack of thought, discussion, consultation, common sense and compassion shown by this dreadful project.
