MARKETS in Northumberland are to be checked out under a national campaign.
Northumberland County Council has signed up to the Real Deal charter to protect market customers from fake goods.
The authority will work with traders, industry groups and copyright and trademark owners to clamp down on counterfeit and pirated goods. Real Deal lays down key principles for all parties which will be displayed at market sites across the Northumberland.
Traders are also being asked to sign up to Real Deal and Coun Anita Romer, the council’s executive member responsible for trading standards, said: “We are aiming to maintain these markets as safe and fair trading environments.
