Music and festive celebrations will light up Wakefield’s Merchant Gate development when a collective of city retailers stage a Christmas market.
Wood Street Market, which held three community markets on the city centre street over the summer, will stage the Christmas event on the weekend of December 14 and 15.
Empty retail units around the public square in Merchant Gate, next to Westgate railway station, will be brought into use for the event, which will run from 2pm-8pm both days.
The market will feature stalls selling local produce, street food, brass band music, a lantern parade and a pop-up cinema.
