Collectively, the traders on Great Homer Street Market are expert with figures.
Wander from stall to stall and you can’t avoid them. “It’s £89 in the shop, I’ll do it for £25 ….
“They’re £7 each, two for a tenner …”
“We’ve got something on this market for every price, from under a pound to £300 jackets,” says Billy Clayton, pointing in the direction of his rails of branded outdoorwear. “Well, he adds, smiling, “£300’s what they’re worth. I’ll sell you one for £150 …”
But it’s not ticket prices that are weighing on Billy and the other traders’ minds at the moment.
There’s another sum concerning them, and they can’t make it add up.
