STUNNING new pictures showing how a revamped Burton Market Hall could look have been revealed — as outdoor traders slammed proposals to move them to Station Street.
East Staffordshire Borough Council is currently consulting on £1.54 million plans to regenerate the town’s ailing indoor market by turning it into a bustling daytime shopping hub housing food retailers, and a music, cinema and entertainment venue at night.
However, outdoor market stallholders claim they have been asked by their customers to set up a petition against proposals to move the outdoor provision to Station Street.
Wendy Newitt, a partner at Woods fruit, vegetables, flowers and plants, said: “We are in favour of investment and some help with the market but we don’t want to be disregarded.
