TOWN leaders want to make townfolk ‘proud’ of their facilities after they confirmed they would take control of some of Sandbach’s major assets.
Sandbach Town Council confirmed on Thursday it would take on the ownership and running of the town’s ‘crown jewels’ from Cheshire East Council.
The borough council has encouraged towns and parishes to take control of its own facilities in a drive to cut costs.
Now the town council will look after the town hall, indoor and outdoor markets, and public toilets.
He said: “While there’s clearly a lot of work to be undertaken, I’m confident the council and the wider community will do their utmost to ensure that Sandbach has facilities of which it can be truly proud.”
