A PETITION to keep Mablethorpe’s weekly market in the High Street and to stop its imminent move to a Tuesday has been launched.
Dave Ives, owner of Dave’s Restaurant in the High Street, is behind it and says he has the support of the market traders.
East Lindsey District Council revealed a plan in March to trial it in the town centre instead of Station Road, which Dave says has so far been a success, but he told the Leader the planned move from a Thursday to a Tuesday in June should be avoided.
He said: “The move to the High Street has been the best thing to happen to the town in years, but moving the market to a Tuesday will kill it.
“There are more profitable markets for traders on Tuesdays.
“I don’t see why we should move while Horncastle stays on a Thursday; they have two market days and we only have one.”
