Derbyshire Dales District Council’s Partnership and Regeneration Committee will meet on 22 March to consider the Overview & Scrutiny Committee’s recommendations on the future of stall markets.
Chair of the Overview & Scrutiny Committee,Councillor Mrs Carol Walker said:
“The Committee and I have welcomed the opportunity to work on this detailed review of stall markets. We have visited the markets in Ashbourne, Bakewell, Matlock and Wirksworth and were impressed with what we saw.
“We have consulted with the traders, town councils, the public and market supervisors and have taken their views on board in coming up with our draft recommendations.
“Our recommendations suggest improvements to the operation and organisation of the markets; better promotion, and new and innovative ways to generate additional income.”
