Stallholders want Bracknell Forest Council’s consultation to focus on the market rather than the future of the eyesore building
Outraged traders want Bracknell Forest Council to focus its Winchester House consultation on the future of Bracknell Market and not the eyesore building.
People who work at the market at the bottom of the former 3M building in Market Place were told last Friday about the consultation, which could see them booted out by April or May next year.
Some feel the three questions the council has put to the public since Monday are not focused on the future of the market so they have launched a petition for the questions to be changed.
Shirley Devine, who has run Sew Devine haberdashery for 30 years, said: “It is unfair because they are using the building over the market.
“The way the questions read will make the public say yes because they want to get rid of Winchester House.”
The options put to the public are: n Leave the market in its current location and retain Winchester House.
Move the market to an outdoor space elsewhere in the town and redevelop the Winchester House site.
Close the market completely and redevelop the Winchester House site.
