Craft fans are in for a treat on Saturday as the first Made by Manxies Craft Market of 2014 comes to the Promenade Methodist Church in Douglas.
Organiser Keren Cowell tells us more: ‘Originally, Made by Manxies was just going to be a one-off fundraising event for the church, whereby local crafters could set up a stall and sell their creations, whilst the event would make a few pennies by receiving all the proceeds from admission charges, table rentals and refreshments.
‘I was a crafter myself but had never sold any of my creations and I got to know quite a few other crafters via Facebook and craft forums, so I saw a need for an event that was central to Douglas, indoors and in a reasonably big space. So that’s how the seeds of the Made by Manxies idea was born.
‘But it sort of grew and grew, following on from the success of the first market where all the tables were booked up within weeks of advertising the market.
‘I then thought it might be a good idea to have the markets regularly.’
