One of the hand crafted items available at the Handmade Market

Stockport shoppers are being urged to come along and enjoy the delights of the first Handmade Market of 2012.

The Handmade Market is being held on Sunday 22nd January, from 10.00am to 4.00pm at Stockport Market and will be bustling with local traders selling locally made gifts and treats.

This dedicated Handmade Market has been organised by Janis Baker of Purple Snail Events in partnership with Stockport Council.

The Handmade Market will be offering a stunning selection of hand crafted items including unique jewellery, hand painted canvases, hand sewn textiles, plus demonstrations of traditional crafts and hands on workshops for all ages.

Councillor Kevin Hogg, Stockport Council’s Executive Member for Regeneration, said: “The Council is committed to working with market traders and local businesses to encourage more visitors to Stockport’s historic market and town centre at weekends.

“Last year the Sunday Handmade Markets proved very popular attracting people from all across Stockport and surrounding areas. I would encourage people to come along to the Handmade Market to see and buy the fantastic hand crafted items.”

The Handmade Market provides people with a new place to shop for unique, handcrafted items that will not be found elsewhere, while at the same time giving local crafters the chance to showcase and sell their goods at a regular monthly event.

Future Handmade Markets will continue to take place on the fourth Sunday of every Month throughout 2012.
