SDC looks to give entrepreneurs a helping hand

BUDDING entrepreneurs looking to kick start a lucrative career are being given a helping hand by Stroud District Council.
SDC is giving new traders the opportunity to set up a stall at the Shambles Market on Wednesday, July 4, for a reduced fee of £2.
The initiative aims to encourage business-minded individuals to put their big ideas to the test by giving them a platform to sell to consumers.
It is being run to celebrate National Market Day and in honour of the ‘Love Your Local Market’ campaign.

WISBECH NEWS: indoor market for National Market Day on 4th July

Wisbech Town Team is planning an indoor market at Wisbech Institute on Saturday 30 June. The event will complement the town’s regular outdoor market as part of the Love Your Local Market and National Market Day initiatives, as well as helping focus attention on local businesses in anticipation of Independents’ Day 2012 on 4 July.
Local traders are invited to book a pitch of up to 9ft in the Institute’s historic Tower Ballroom. At £10 per pitch, bookings include a 6ft table, although traders are free to make their own display arrangements.
The event is open to a wide variety of traders, including franchised, party-style organisations, such as Body Shop and Pampered Chef.

TRY RUNNING STALL AT THE LOCAL MARKET

ANYONE wanting to try their hand at running a market stall can do so in Allerdale later this month.
To celebrate national market day on June 23, a programme of activities has been arranged including face painters, street entertainers, and musicians who will keep visitors entertained as they browse the stalls.
The activities will take place at the Workington Saturday markets on June 23, 30, and July 7.
People will be allowed to experience what it is like to run their own market stall.
As an introduction, smaller stalls will be available at a reduced price at Workington and Silloth markets.

National Market Day
Manchester Council
To help encourage young people and new business start ups into the market trade as part of National Markets Day, Manchester Markets are offering new traders free stalls at the Local Markets on Saturday 23 June.
There are 15 free stalls up for grabs at Gorton Market, Harpurhey Market, Longsight Market and Wythenshawe Market.
We’ll provide all the equipment you need to trade and the NTF (National Traders Federation) will provide free insurance, which is usually £92 for the year! All you need to do is register in advance and then turn up on the day with your products, ready to sell.
