NABMA Press Release.
NABMA is delighted to announce that Ellie Gill, has been appointed as the Love Your Local Market Manager to lead the national campaign for 2013. The aim is to build on the successes of 2012 to make Love Your Local Market bigger and better, looking to involve over 500 markets and attract 3,000 new traders.
The post attracted a large number of highly qualified applicants with interviews being held at the start of January 2013. Ellie comes to NABMA with a large experience in event management and a background of skills in community and stakeholder engagement, working widely with private and public sectors.
Ellie also has a great deal of experience of markets having undertaken projects with Wiltshire Farmers’ Market; establishing a successful Sunday Market in Marlborough and partnering Wiltshire Council looking forward to the launch of a weekly market plan for Trowbridge in the Spring of this year. Ellie is also the Town Team Co-ordinator for Trowbridge, is well versed in the objectives of the Portas Review and has worked with various social enterprise companies and trusts focussing on helping new businesses.
Ellie will be contacting markets throughout the country to enthuse them to participate in Love Your Local Market 2013. In addition, she will be supporting the Love Your Local Market Roadshows that are being rolled out across the country, working closely with our partners in the industry to secure their participation and support and arranging for the provision of promotional materials. Ellie will also contributing to the monthly Love Your Local Market newsletter and working on the database and assisting in circulating information through social media, the Love Your Local Market website and other means to promote the 2013 campaign.
Chief Executive of NABMA, Graham Wilson OBE, confirmed:
“We are delighted to welcome Ellie who brings a wide range of skills and experience to NABMA alongside boundless energy and enthusiasm. NABMA was overwhelmed with the interest that was shown in the post and also the calibre of applicants. I would urge all market managers to look to participate in Love Your Local Market for 2013 and make early contact with Ellie, initially through NABMA, to start to build up a relationship. Last year has been described as the most exciting period for a generation for markets and we have a chance in 2013 to spread the message even wider. Please look out for our Roadshows in the coming weeks”
Ellie Gill has welcomed the appointment:
“This is a significant window of opportunity for markets and Love Your Local Market provides the ideal opportunity to promote their importance in so many ways. The emphasis will be on profile raising, employment and young people and these are agendas that we all share and must engage with. I am greatly looking forward to this challenge and working with the markets industry in the weeks ahead “
