Despite recent wet weather pulling the plug on two consecutive events, the Wednesday Street Market’s return has been welcomed with open arms by customers and traders alike.
The town’s traditional fixture was taken over by the town council in October 2013 after it diminished to just a single stallholder in the Waitrose car park.
Councillors battled to secure the market’s return to its historic home in Market Square – and it has blossomed ever since.
Market manager Nils Omell said: “It’s going great and we are going to try and expand it a little bit – we have got a couple of special market events.
