COUNCILLORS have expressed their delight that plans to revitalise Altrincham Market are coming to fruition.
Proposals to convert the historic market hall into a ‘mixed use market, performance and function venue’, were passed unanimously by councillors at a planning committee meeting on November 14.
A range of proposed refurbishments including restoration of the old toilet block, installation of traditional but, more secure market stalls, replacement of floors and internal redecoration to brighten the market space, are now set to take place.
Further adaptations include the erection of a glazed canopy on the Shaws Road elevation of the building as well as emergency lighting and a new security system.
