On Wednesday 27 June and 4 July, Kettering Borough Council is offering entrepreneurs who are looking to open a new business a stall for just £10!
Love Your Local Market fortnight takes place between 23 June and 08 July 2012 and is being backed by Central Government, the Markets Alliance and individuals such as market trader and Apprentice semi finalist Adam Corbally.
The campaign aims to attract new market traders and to highlight the importance that markets play in the heart of the local community, not only for retail, but they are a valuable community asset and, in many places, provide the focal point of our town centres.
To support the national campaign here in Kettering the Wednesday Flea Market, held on Meadow Road, will be given a new make over with new traders and branding which will add vibrancy to the High Street.
On Wednesday 27 June and 4 July, Kettering Borough Council is offering entrepreneurs who are looking to open a new business a stall for £10. This is a great opportunity for anyone looking to open a new venture. This scheme will allow traders first hand experience with the public and fellow traders to build a good network of customers, colleagues and a great sense of community, with the added benefit of unnecessary costs.
Valerie Hitchman, Head of Community Services said
“This has been a great initiative to get more people trading on markets, and is an excellent way for them to gain first hand experience with minimum costs. We are excited about next week as we are fully booked on both days. We have some energetic traders with some wonderful goods up for grabs so get there early”.
Cllr Steve Bellamy, Portfolio Holder for Environment said
“Love Your Local Market is a great campaign to get us shopping and supporting our local markets. We have some great markets across the borough of Kettering which offer something new and it’s important we support the small businesses on the High Street.”
Graham Wilson, Chief Executive of the National Association of British Markets Authorities says “This is the biggest national markets event for a generation and there is a real opportunity for markets to show what they can do for job creation and bringing town centres to life”.
