A Lincolnshire town’s Christmas market has been cancelled three days before it was due to go ahead.
Boston’s Christmas Market was due to start on Friday, with street entertainers and stalls selling festive craft items and food.
The three-day event had been at risk after traders voted to disband Boston’s Business Improvement District (Bid), which paid for the event in 2012.
Boston Borough Council said the market had been pulled on safety grounds.
A lights switch-on with Emmerdale actors Chris Chittell and Lesley Dunlop will still go ahead in Pescod Square on Friday.
Council leader Peter Bedford said an independent events organiser made the decision to cancel the Christmas market, along with local police, fire and Lincolnshire County Council.
