LONG BEACH >> Bicyclists making their way to the downtown farmers market last Friday were pleasantly surprised when they noticed a blue sign offering free bike valet.
“I walked today, but seeing this here, maybe I’ll bring my bike next week,” said Angie Reiff of Long Beach. “The guy even said they do a quick inspection while you shop around and for free. Yeah, I think I’m biking next week.”
The mechanics on hand are able to do minor maintenance and tune-up work at no cost excluding parts.
The service is only a few weeks old at the downtown farmers market, located at Third Street and Pacific Avenue, and is offered by Pedal Movement, a cycling advocacy group that touts the benefits of riding bicycles.
