A NEW era could be dawning for Burton’s ailing Market Hall — with plans to turn it into an evening entertainment venue.
Under new proposals to revitalise the under-used hall and boost Burton’s evening economy, East Staffordshire Borough Council is consulting on a blueprint which could also include moving outdoor market traders to Station Street.
David Leese, borough council deputy leader for partnerships, said: “Regenerating the Market Hall will bring new life to Burton town centre.
“The redevelopment will not only improve the shopping and catering experience but will provide an excellent venue for evening entertainment for the residents of East Staffordshire and surrounding areas.”
The news comes just weeks after controversial proposals were revealed which could force street traders from Station Street to Market Place to create a ‘food court’ area.
