A NEW location for Walsall Market has been earmarked, council chiefs have revealed this week.
The Bridge looks set to be the new permanent location of the historic venue – with plans for its layout set to go towards the public at an exhibition this weekend.
“With the redevelopment of the Old Square Shopping Centre and the arrival of Primark and the Co-op next year, we want to ensure Walsall Market is fit for the 21st century is of a quality that reflects our ongoing aims for the regeneration of the town centre,” said Cllr Adrian Andrew, regeneration chief of Walsall Council.
“The market has and still is a key part of Walsall’s tradition and can be traced as far back as 1219.”
Officials have been looking for a new home for the market since 2008.
