DESPITE it having a market charter since 1268, Shipston has been missing a regular market for 50 years.
But on Monday night, town councillors unanimously voted to support a motion for the return of a market after half a century and will now be responsible for all markets within the parish.
Members also decided the town council would join the National Association of British Markets and register the existing royal charter which gives it the right to hold a regular market.
Councillor Ian Cooper said the town square would be the preferred location.
