A group of market traders in Liverpool’s Great Homer Street say they stand to lose out through plans to regenerate the area.
The Everton stallholders at the market, known affectionately as Greatie, said they did not believe they had been properly consulted about plans to create a new indoor market in nearby Dryden Street to make way for the £100m-plus Project Jennifer Scheme.
They reacted in anger to the recent announcement by the council that it had identified a new site for traders, and the claim that traders were happy with the plans.
City leaders said it was inevitable that with such a big, complex project that some people would react in a negative way, but that those who are in the official market had been consulted and were happy with the plans.
