A CAMPAIGN is urging people to support their markets – just months after Harborough’s Market Hall was saved from the axe.
Harborough District Council, which owns the Northampton Road hall, is backing the recently-launched Love Your Local Market Campaign.
Harborough Council is one of more than 300 local authorites and market organisers taking part in the national appeal inspired by Mary Portas’ report on the future of Britain’s High Streets.
Love Your Local Market fortnight is running from this Saturday, June 23, until Sunday, July 8, and is being backed by the Government, the Markets Alliance, market traders and Apprentice semi-finalist Adam Corbally.
The campaign is aiming to attract new market traders and also to highlight the important part markets play in the heart of their communities.
Traders at Harborough’s Market Hall are backing the initiative and are meeting later this week to plan their approach.
