Farnham Farmers market held its last market of the year on Sunday and even Santa came to stock up!

Complete with a local live band, Grandpa spells, the town crier and the Mayor of Farnham Cllr Jill Hargreaves, along with Santa himself taking time out for a very special guest appearance, it was by all accounts a great success and a very enjoyable day.
You could find all of the regular stallholders selling their usual fantastic local fair, along with a few additions especially for christmas, including Freshly cut Christmas trees and a Christmas wreath stall that appeared to be doing some very brisk business, given the volume of visitors to the market, and many dressed for the occasion with Santa hats proving a popular choice amongst stallholders.
The market has been running in Farnham for just over 10 years, having celebrated its Birthday in September 2011. Originally an initiative by Waverley Borough and Farnham Town Councils, the market attracts on average 45 stalls and is held on the 4th Sunday of every month, except in December where it is usually held on the Second Sunday. All of the stallholders come from within a 30 mile radius of Farnham, ensuring the produce is fresh and travelled only a short distance.
The location, in the Central Car park, is in the centre of Farnham Town itself and part of the markets success must be attributed to the ease and closeness of parking for the visitors, as the market is given a section of the car park while the remaining area is left for customers, this make access to the market very easy and of course when it come time to carry the spoils back to the car it is but a short walk.
The market is managed on the day by Nick Shields and it always has an information tent staffed by people such as David Beaman, Independent Member for Upper Hail, who is very passionate about the market and is on hand to answer any questions you may have about the market, the Town Council, or indeed anything else you care to chat about.
Farnham farmers market comes highly recommended, not only for the quality and range of produce available, but also for the smiling faces, the marketeers themselves, who are not only hard working, but genuinely happy and ready to assist. Its success is also testament to the hard work and dedication from people like Nick Shields, Market Manager, Ginny Gordon, Market Co-ordinator and of course David Beaman.
