The town has been granted a charter to hold a market since the 16th century, but it hasn’t been a regular Droitwich feature for quite some time.
Councillor Bob Brookes, chairman of the charter market sub-committee said: “Droitwich Spa Town Council have been looking for ways to encourage trade and make the town a more interesting visitor destination by having a regular weekly market. Droitwich Spa was granted a Charter for a Market in 1553 but changes in the law over the last 460 years have meant that it was not a simple matter to arrange, and a great deal of work was needed by councillors and the town clerk to make this possible.
